Abstract: UNAMA remains concerned at the high level of civilian casualties from the ongoing armed conflict in Afghanistan and believes more has to be done by all parties to the conflict to reduce the impact on civilians. While certain pro-government forces have been responsive to the issue of civilian casualties arising from their operations, civilian deaths caused by air-strikes is still a serious concern. AGEs continue to undertake asymmetric attacks and conduct operations in civilian areas, particularly suicide bombings, heedless of the toll on civilians.
