General note Summary: “Women’s political participation in Afghanistan has seen a notable increase since the beginning of the Bonn process in 2002. Article 83 of the constitution provides for the representation of women in the lower house of parliament: an average of two seats for every province is reserved, or 68 seats out of 249. The electoral law further requires that a minimum of a quarter of the seats on a provincial council be reserved for women”—(p. 5).
