Summary: In order to support the preparation of a transitional European Commission strategy (EC) on the post-conflict rehabilitation and reconstruction of Afghanistan and the neighboring region, the EC financed several sector studies to update, upgrade and further detail its current knowledge of the situation in the Afghanistan. These studies have been initiated against the paradoxical background that, on the one hand, it is far too early to foresee the likely outcome of the current crisis and that, on the other, the international community will be called very soon to concretize the contribution offered by donors for post-conflict Afghanistan.
