Summary: “The recent history of rinderpest in Afghanistan in some part of the country within which the virus maintained itself and from time to time the spell over of infection caused focal outbreaks in other provinces. In other word it was constantly re-introduced to the country usually through the eastern borders. Production of rinderpest vaccine was undertaken in the country right from the very first outbreak in the only vaccine production in Kabul except for a short period where rinderpest vaccine was produced in Hirat province on emergency basis. During emergencies the country used to get the vaccine from his northern neighbor the ex-soviet union”—(p. I).
